Super-Team Mashup: Plastic Man and The Mask

In a tense yet amusing segment of the German game show Schlag den Star (Beat the Celebrity), professional athletes Alexander Zverev (Tennis) and Silvio Heinevetter (Handball) faced off against each other to see who could perfectly cut vegetables exactly in half. After cutting, the halves were weighed to see who was more precise with their knife skills.
(translated) What about the cooking skills of professional athletes? Practice cutting vegetables could be beneficial in the Halve game. The task is to cut ..food into two pieces of exactly the same weight.
Celebrity against celebrity is the motto at Schlag den Star. Stars can compete against each other in up to 15 sports and thinking games and play for the jackpot.
Twilight Zone: The Plays takes place at Spanganga in San Francisco, Fridays & Saturdays in March.
Here are my photos from the March 5th, 2004 performance of episode #2 “Time Enough At Last?” (written and directed by M.I. Blue) as well as photos from the March 12th performances of “The Lonely” (directed by Rey Carolino) & “Will The Real Martian Please Stand Up?” (directed by Denzil Meyers).

Swamp Thing is not stranger to dealing with misshapen monstrosities, so I don’t think that the sight of M.O.D.O.K. would give him much pause. Still, if this crazed scientist had unlimited resources, he might give the Earth Elemental a run for his money.

They may share a first name and a penchant for getting involved in mysteries, but that’s where the similarities end with these three. It might be fun to see them working together to solve a case.

It’s time for another all-Kirby classic. Jack Kirby was great at presenting big action, big personalities, big machines, big concepts and big stakes – so a mystery involving the king of an advanced society and an emissary of death from New Genesis would be right in his wheelhouse.

Turtles may have a reputation for being slow, but I would say that all that are pictured here buck that trend. Between the super speed, martial arts action and a kaiju menace, there would be more than enough fast paced excitement in this issue.

We saw Anakin Skywalker’s mother in The Phantom Menace, but they never identified who his father was. Perhaps his mom didn’t tell him because she didn’t want him to know of his Kryptonian parentage. It would help explain his mean streak and now we know why he has such an issue with Superman, as seen in STF #1171 and STF #3134…

This off-beat pairing came from a suggestion by Arcadia Berger, a Patron of this Blog. I had to admit that I was not familiar with the Jules Verne-inspired hero and it was tough to find a usable image of him. I finally found a cover to an Italian paperback that would work, end here are the results. Thanks for the idea and the patronage, Arcadia!

Multi-instrumentalist Alex Melton reimagined what the Van Halen song “Jump” would sound like if it were written as an alt-pop indie rock song. Melton played all of the instruments on this cover, and in doing so, he found that he liked the results.
We all know the iconic synth line, but I had never really given this song a proper listen all the way through until I decided to do this cover. I loved the idea of slowing the verses waaay down and letting each line breathe, while keeping the upbeat pace of the pre-chorus intact.
